Code Quest Hackathon Rules 1. Dates

Hackathon Date: March 15, 2025
Location: Champlain College, In-Person Event
Time: 8:00 AM – 9:30 PM

Submission Deadline: 6:30 PM – No late submissions allowed.

2. Eligibility
  • The hackathon is open to all Champlain College students.
  • Participants can join solo or in teams of up to 4 members.
  • No prior hackathon experience is required—beginners are encouraged to participate!
3. Project and Submission Requirements

 - What Can You Build?

  • Participants can work on any project of their choice—there are no restrictions on themes or technologies.
  • Alternatively, they can take on Tail’ed’s challenge: Hackez votre parcours (Reinvent academic tools).

- Submission Requirements
Each team must submit:
  A GitHub Repository – Public repo with all project files and a README.
  A Demo Video (2-3 minutes) – A short video explaining and demonstrating the project.
  Project Description & Answers to Required Questions (See full list in the Submission Guidelines).

Submission Deadline: 6:30 PM sharp – No late submissions, no exceptions.

4. Prizes

Prizes will be announced at the event.

  • There will be multiple categories for winners.
  • Judges will evaluate projects based on creativity, execution, and impact.
5. Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Projects will be judged based on the following criteria:

 - Creativity & Innovation (25%) – How unique and original is the idea?
 - Functionality (25%) – Does the project work as intended?
 - Technical Complexity (20%) – How well is it built?
 - Presentation & Demo (20%) – How well was the project explained?
 -  Impact & Usefulness (10%) – Does the project solve a real problem?

 Winner Selection:

  • Judges will evaluate projects during the Project Showcase (6:45 PM – 7:45 PM).
  • Winners will be announced during the Closing Ceremony at 8:30 PM.
6. Code of Conduct

All participants must follow the Champlain College Student Code of Conduct and the Hackathon Code of Conduct:

  • Be Respectful: No harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior.
  • Collaborate & Learn: This is a beginner-friendly event—help others and be open to learning.
  • Build Ethically: No plagiarism, harmful code, or offensive projects.
  • No Late Submissions: Any push after 6:30 PM will result in disqualification.

Violations of these rules may result in disqualification from the event.

7. Additional Notes

All participants must be physically present at the event.
No pre-existing projects are allowed—all work must be done during the hackathon.
Organizers reserve the right to modify rules as needed.
